LIONEL MESSI

Lionel Andres Messi , popularly known as Lionel Messi or shortened as Leo , was born on 24th June 1987 in Rosario , Argentina . The 5-feet-7-inch guy began his footbal career at the age of 5 for Grandoli . In 1995 he began playin for Newell's Old Boys .

At the age of 11 , Leo was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency . At that moment , he came into the notice of Barcelona officials and they agreed to pay the medical bills if only Messi joind Barca . So Leo , along with his father moved to Barcelona and there he joined the youth academy of the club .

After playing in the junior leagues , Messi debuted for the first team of Barca on 16th Nov 2003 in a friendly match against FC Porto . He scored his first goal for the senior team on 1 May 2005 against Albacete Balompie .
